With a music style combination of folk, rock, pop, and country, this lyric-driven project explores the universal themes common to all of us, from songs about relationships to emotion-charged detours in the road of one's life.
All the songs were composed by Dan Yablonka. Dan performs on "Traces of Blue" as lead vocalist as well as playing acoustic, electric, and national roundneck guitar. His melancholy vocals are warmly supported by the pedal steel guitar stylings of Greg Leisz, drummer Frank Cotinola, Richard Stekol, Poul Pedersen, Beth Fitchet, and Kelly Fitzgerald on supporting vocals, and Steve Wood playing keyboards, bass, harmonica, accordion and background vocals. Steve also handled all the arrangement, engineering, and mixing of the project at his Benaji Recording Studios in Laguna Beach, CA. The result is a warm, sentimental musical reflection through the experiences of one person's life.

In 1988, Dan became a staff writer for Criterion/Atlantic Music who handled a roster of artists including Jackson Brown, Honk, Lyle Lovett, Rodney Crowell and Rosanne Cash. That may be where he picked up some of the folk, rock and country influences evident in this latest project, Traces of Blue.
Dan Yablonka's musical background also includes membership in number of successful Orange County bands, such as Rodan, Fashion Risk, and the Defenders. Members of these bands have gone on to make up the creme of the Orange County music scene, as well as a part of such national acts as the Kenny Loggins Band, Chicago, The Pointer Sisters, and Al Jarreau. The abundance of all of Dan's songwriting and performing experience has now culminated in his latest project, a solo release entitled Traces of Blue, presented here.
