About the Music
In a moving jazz/rock style reminiscent of Jeff Beck, Scott leans heavily on his life experiences for his musical inspirations. Immigrant Story is dedicated to his Italian-born grandparents who migrated to this country during the Great Depression. Juliet was written as a loving tribute to Scott’s wife. Baked Potato reflects the memories of the so-named club Scott frequented to see one of his favorite mentors, Toto guitarist, Steve Lukather.

Biography
Born in Allentown, PA in 1964, Scott Olshevski spent the majority of his early years in Botswana, Africa, where he was exposed to the styles of the various African music cultures as well as the more Western influences of rock, jazz, disco and rhythm & blues.

By the age of 17, Scott had begun writing and playing guitar, now reflecting a synthesis of all the musical style he had learned. Although his main interest was rock, the bass driven funk and rhythm & blues played a major part in his songwriting. Kalahari Sunset, Chibuku and Mealie Pop are examples of this hybrid writing style.

Some of Scott’s major guitar influences have been Carlos Santana, Jimi Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. "My main musical inspiration," says Scott, "is Steve Lukather. His guitar playing always moved me in a way no other guitarist could." The reflection of all the varied influences is immediately evident to the listener of Scott Olshevski’s debut CD.
